Hello 🇧🇷 loved reading this, because felt so seen! I also work with trends research but with the same kind of education you had! I’ve always been a self taught person drived mostly by curiosity.. sometimes feel like an imposter honestly, but other times feel like my curious and proactive profile is what makes me great at researching! Glad to see others like me out there! 💖 congrats for the great writing

Loved this, especially the part about farming your own algorithm.

Adored this! For those looking to create their own corners of creative consumption, I can’t recommend Obsidian enough, especially their web clipper that just brings videos and articles straight into your own, personal ad free space. It’s about time the digital garden movement came back <3

This is so interesting to me because growing up thats how i spent my time as well — building my own identity and community through online spaces. It’s amazing how much of that has influenced who i am today and how i work. We’ve all become a little jaded by the dead internet theory since, but joining substack, leaving comments on other ppl’s works and reading think-pieces like yours has really given me a bit of hope that community is not entirely dead

Loved every second of reading this. Especially loved the story about the google meet. It’s strange because I resonate with both the girl and with you; the girl in the sense that I sometimes wonder the inner working or mechanics of xyz thing due to lack of experience/exposure/etc. which can leave me feeling like an outsider… but then also you in the sense that things seem so much simpler looking backwards ie “just google it…”. I guess that comes with the endless possibilities of the future compared to the singular possibility that was realized of every given moment of the past.

Also, I remember years ago one of the people I admired in my personal life talking about the Sartorialist having never heard of it and feeling like my mind was blown wide open; it didn’t change my own personal selections for style I think partly because, even though I was then observing something I admired, I didn’t really know how to interpret or understand it in a personal sense in that Ira Glass kind of way.

Reading this brought back memories and really stirred up thoughts and was such a pleasant way to begin my day!
